Just five years ago, laptops could hardly be considered a tool for 2D graphics (editing, color correction) and had no chance to run high-end 3D applications. But technology moves at the speed of light. Everything is changing and laptops are capable of powering through the most demanding workflows.
Last year NVIDIA helped to give birth to a new category of laptops for those who design visual content. These laptops come with the NVIDIA RTX STUDIO badge with models from all laptop vendors.
What is RTX STUDIO certification?
NVIDIA RTX STUDIO combines software and hardware requirements for maximum efficiency of mobile laptops/workstations in terms of performance and reliability.
First of all, this is a reliable and well-balanced configuration thoroughly tested by NVIDIA. All RTX STUDIO laptops are equipped with either GeForce or Quadro RTX GPUs, Intel Core i7 or i9 CPUs, 16+ GB RAM and of course an SSD of 512GB and higher. Whatever challenges you face, you can tackle them efficiently and quickly – from simple ones like photo editing to complicated ones like video editing, color correction and of course, ray-traced 3D rendering.
Which GPU benefits and increase are expected in creative apps?
3D ANIMATION
- REAL-TIME PREVIEWS. Model and render large 3D scenes in real-time and create complex animations seamlessly with GPU-accelerated apps like Autodesk 3ds Max, Maya, Maxon Cinema 4D, and Blender.
- ACCELERATED, PHYSICALLY BASED RENDERING. With RTX GPUs, accelerated ray tracing lets you visualize your photorealistic materials as you create them in Autodesk Arnold, Chaos Group V-Ray, OTOY OctaneRender, Redshift by Maxon, and Blender Cycles.
- GET TO FINAL FRAMES SOONER. Experience lag-free interaction and massive speed boosts with RTX GPU-accelerated ray tracing and AI-enhanced denoising.

VIDEO EDITING AND MOTION GRAPHICS
- WORK SMART, WORK FAST. Intelligently track objects and crop landscape video to social media-friendly aspect ratios fast with GPU-accelerated AI Auto Reframe in Adobe Premiere Pro. With NVIDIA encoder acceleration in Adobe Premiere Pro, editors can export high-resolution videos up to 5x faster than on CPU.
- EDIT UP TO 8K REAL-TIME, REALLY FAST. Play back and edit ultra-high resolution video smoothly without pre-caching or generating proxies in Adobe Premiere Pro, Blackmagic Resolve, REDCINE-X PRO, and more.
- BRILLIANT COLOR CORRECTION AT LIGHTNING SPEEDS. Use Auto color, Shot match, and RTX GPU-accelerated color grading to get to the perfect color in Blackmagic Resolve.

Which apps get accelerated with NVIDIA RTX GPUs?
The list of apps with GPU acceleration is quite large already and keeps growing. The screenshot below shows the apps that have features enabling the RTX potential (RT cores for ray tracing, and Tensor cores for AI acceleration).
It is important that NVIDIA offers the SDK and API for app developers to accelerate ray tracing, rendering, video editing and other tasks. It guarantees that the number of apps that have GPU support and optimizations will keep on growing.
STUDIO Drivers
Creators can also use special NVIDIA STUDIO Drivers for visual content apps. STUDIO Driver updates are linked to updates of respective apps (around 200 apps are tracked). In contrast to Game Ready Drivers, the STUDIO ones are tested for reliability and stability in the multi-app workflow. One can switch to the STUDIO drivers in the GeForce Experience (in case of a GeForce GPU) or they shall download the driver in case of a Quadro GPU.- https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/studio/ .
